Your Placement Advisor will make sure that community is able to handle the level of care your family member needs. What geographic areas do you cover?
Newport Senior Link can assist in Central Florida and we also have partnerships with other trustworthy Placement Agencies in Broward County as well in Southern Florida. We primarily serve in the Osceola, Orange, Seminole, Lake, Sumter, Marion, Volusia & Flagler Counties.
Does Insurance pay for any of these services?
Only a long term care policy will cover placement into Assisted Living, Residential Assisted Living or In Home Care. (Please be advised that you should check with your carrier to make sure the coverage you are requesting is a part of the policy)
How much will the care cost?
The cost varies from community to community as the locations will also determine the cost of Assisted Living or Residential Care Facility. The In-Home Care services will also vary in cost depending on the level of care the client needs. Your Placement Advisor can meet with you and determine the cost based on the needs of the client. We work hard to stay within your budget.
How do we look at some of the Communities/Places that would fit our needs?
Once your Placement Advisor has a good idea of your personal goals, they will be happy to give you a guided tour of several places. We can educate you and walk you through the process every step of the way. Your Advisor will make sure that all of your questions are answered and you are feeling comfortable with your decision. Your Advisor will help negotiate the rates to help accommodate your budget. NSL is sensitive to what is affordable to you and your loved one.
Are there benefits for Veterans?
Yes, there is a very good chance that if your family member is a veteran, or spouse of a veteran, they could qualify for additional income to help offset the cost of care. Although we are not affiliated with them, we can recommend a few consulting groups that can assist in obtaining the Aid & Attendance benefits for Veterans.
CHANGE IN LAW Regarding Resident Referrals to Assisted Living Facilities - Effective Date 7/1/2012
The statute previously prohibited ALFs from contracting to pay or receive any commission, bonus, kickback, or rebate with any person for resident referrals.
The House Bill 787 effective 7/1/2012 provides an exception to prohibited kickbacks or payments for referrals to authorize assisted
living facilities to use employees or persons under contract with the facility, to provide payments for referrals, and to compensate residents for referrals of friends.
Specifically, the bill amends s. 429.195(3), F.S., providing that the following activities are not prohibited
patient brokering by ALFs and are not punishable as third degree felonies:
Employing or contracting for marketing services
Referral services which provide information, consultation, or referrals of persons to an ALF
Referrals to an ALF by residents of the ALF
